Jude Perl “Girls & Boys” coming soon… So soon!

It’s been a few weeks since the shoot now, but we are very close to releasing our clip for Jude Perl’s song “Girls & Boys”. Having only just realised that I didn’t post about this one, I figure it’s better late than never.

Ha…well, where to start! This shoot was ridonkulous! There’s no other way to describe a set that parades 20-30-year olds acting like 5 year olds.

Even if we were to explain the whole concept to you, I’d feel as though I’m giving nothing away. This clip is ALL about our wonderful cast, the priceless expressions they pull, the costumes they wear and their hilarious interactions with one another. Although practically no one knew each other at the beginning of the first day, everyone seemed like kindergarden pals 48 hours later. Which seems appropriate.

But if you like the idea of grown men in dresses, or dressed as sunflowers and robots, trying to impress bumblebees, kitty cats, princesses and fairies, then you are in for a treat!

That’s a wrap! Dysphemic and Miss Eliza

Even though we are still technically under construction, we’ve been keeping busy and putting our new warehouse space to good use. We’ve just wrapped on the shooting a music video for the wonderfully talented Dysphemic and Miss Eliza.

How describe this one? I actually can’t tell you. Not because I’ve signed anything that seals my lips, but literally because- right now- the clip only exists in Ryan’s head. Generally speaking, that happens when the clip involves a lot of crazy after effects. So, what else could we do but watch the boy direct and nod our heads?

All we know that there were crazy dance fight sequences, mortal kombat style costumes, and… this…

New behind-the-scenes mini series coming soon!

For mostly selfish reasons, we’ve started documenting the behind-the-scenes processes here at Monster & Bear. If it so happens that you might find this interesting viewing, then even better.

The series will be for online viewing only, with a focus (at first) on our music video productions. You will get a glimpse of what is involved right from conceptualisation all the way through to the final product.

We’re not promising anything super polished, which is why the title of the series is so fitting. “Rough as Guts”.

We’re currently working on some super cool stop-mo animated title slates thanks to the wonderful Fiona Dalwood (www.fionadalwood.com). Check out our super cute Monster & Bear characters below

As per usual, we’ll keep you all posted and clog up your news feeds when we have something to show for it!

We have a warehouse!

It’s been on the cards for some time now, but Monster & Bear finally has a warehouse! You guys will soon be able to catch us at 13-19 Leslie Street Brunswick (Melbourne, VIC, AUS). We’re “totes excited”, or whatever the cool kids would say.

We’re building some smaller studios, 6.5m x 7m, great for talking heads type stuff, voiceover recordings, or smaller projects, but keeping a large warehouse floorspace (approx. 14m x 13m) free for all kinds of multiple purpose creative projects. In the near future, there will be an opportunity to hire any of these spaces for short term periods, so we’ll keep you posted on when that can happen.

Open2Study Launches

It’s not you. It’s us.

We’ve been a little preoccupied lately with a project called Open2Study, backed by Open Universities Australia. If you’ve ever wanted to do a free online course that has no strings attached, then this is something you should definitely check out.

“Caught in a Daze” makes SOUNDKILDA Top 16

We just received the news that the music video we made for indie rock band Rain Party has made the top 16 for this year’s SOUNDKILDA (St. Kilda Film Festival). Having spoken on last year’s panel “How to make a Music Video”, it’s nice to have an entry in the finals this year

Since The River releases “Ithaca”

If you haven’t seen it yet, here is the follow-up video release from Melbourne band Since The River, which we shot on location at Half Moon Bay.

It was our pleasure to work alongside Georgie Seccull from 1986.com.au on the costumes for this clip. What a crazy, inspiring young lady! Check out the video below…I’m sure it will speak for itself.

Sometimes a location truly surrounds you; it’s so vast that no matter which way you look, there’s more of the same.

This is not one of those locations.

Below are some snaps of our most recent location scouting adventure. It’s amazing how, sometimes, you really have to search for what you want from a smorgasbord of landscapes in a small vicinity. Day Two of our music video shoot for Since The River will take place in a similarly magical place to Day One, only this time it’s not 3 hours drive from the city out in the middle of nowhere. In fact, it’s right under our metropolitan noses in Melbourne, Australia.

Without giving too much away, here are a few sneaky shots from our visit to this little pocket haven along the Victorian coastline.

Sneak Peek: Since The River “Ithaca”

You might remember the clip we made for these guys a little while back… a little rotating number in a boutique motel room where dirty gory things happened (Ha…vague). Well, now they’re back, and this time we’re filming black and white dreamy goodness in wildly scenic locations that seem right out of this world. And since we’re feeling super nice about it, we’re giving you all a sneak peek at the raw footage so far.

With the first day of footage under our belt, we are excited about heading into Day 2 within the next week to shoot the accompanying band footage.
